How to Successfully Price Match at Walmart and SAVE BIG!

I often hear people say "I don't have time to mess with coupons" or "there are only coupons for things I don't buy". I admit, it is a little time consuming, but I don't mind working a few hours a week to save my family $400+ a month! For those of you that don't want to mess with coupons, this article is for you!

I am going to give you some tips and advice on how you can shop at Walmart, get everything you need and still save BIG without using coupons.

See Walmart's price match guarantee policy at the end of this post. Getting familiar with it will be a great help to your shopping success.

    1. This first step is VERY important. Call the Walmart  store where you shop to find out what stores they will price match. Each store is different. Some have a certain "mile radius" and will match any store within that radius. Then get your hands on all the sale papers from these stores every week or look them up online.

    2. Make your grocery list according to what's on sale. If chicken is on sale, consider having a few meals with chicken that week. If ground chuck is on sale, include it in a few meals. Same goes for produce. Typically every week there are a few produce items that are crazy cheap (example: green bell peppers are
3/$0.98 this week!). Also, make sure to write down the sale prices and the store you are price matching on your list.

    3. Go shopping! While you're shopping....stick to your list!! Try to avoid any unnecessary impulse buys. Also, when I am ad matching, I like to write down the Walmart price on my shopping list. Then I can figure up how much I saved when I get home. Your receipt won't tell you :(  Another helpful tip: keep all ad match items separate.

    4. Checking out can be somewhat intimidating. However, with a carefully planned trip, it will go smoothly. Put all ad match items on the belt FIRST. Tell the cashier before she starts scanning anything that you are ad matching. You don't have to have the ads with you, but I always do just in case.

    5. Go home and figure up your savings! This of course isn't something you HAVE to do, but in my opinion, you SHOULD do. Then you can say "I just saved $43.27 just by ad matching at Walmart!" Seeing the actual dollar amount saved will give you a great sense of accomplishment!

Over time, you will get better at finding deals and planning your meals around what you get on sale!
